We understand that active experiments may be underway. Sensitive instrumentation may be on benches adjacent to the floor being cleaned. Chemical reagents, biological samples, and precision equipment may be present. The floor cleaning protocol is designed around these realities. Golden Coast's lab cleaning staff receive a facility-specific orientation before beginning service on any new laboratory account.
Laboratory floors are not uniform. Epoxy-coated floors require specific cleaners that won't attack the epoxy finish. Sealed concrete requires a different mopping approach than vinyl tile. Anti-static flooring
in electronics labs requires cleaning products and mop materials that do not compromise the anti-static properties. VCT in administrative areas adjacent to labs requires standard commercial floor care. Using
the wrong product or method on any of these surfaces causes damage that can be costly to repair.
Golden Coast handles non-hazardous waste removal only. Biohazardous waste, chemical waste, radioactive waste, sharps,
and other regulated waste streams are managed exclusively by the laboratory's designated EHS program and licensed waste contractors. Our cleaning staff are trained to recognize regulated waste
containers and streams, and to leave them strictly undisturbed.
Laboratory floors often cannot be cleaned during active lab hours — the presence of cleaning staff and wet floors creates safety, contamination, and operational disruption risks. Most lab sweep and mop programs are scheduled at the beginning or end of the working day, during lunch breaks, or during designated non-operational windows identified by the lab manager.
